WELCOME TO MOTHERHOOD INCORPORATED!

Motherhood Incorporated was formed shortly after owner and operator  Sandra Beck left her job in Corporate America after 13 years.  The  decision to stay at home with her children for Sandra Beck was not an easy one  after a successful business career and achieving (and paying for) both her  undergraduate and graduate degrees from Northwestern University.

It wasn’t that motherhood was unsatisfying. Being able to see her  kids anytime she wanted was priceless. Not having the money, financial freedom  and stimulation of other working people was not.

Sandra Beck started freelancing  in the industry in which she had contacts shortly after resigning and before  long she had a steady stream of clients coming to her for work.

Sandra Beck was able to work from home at the hours she chose and  able to keep her finger in the corporate pie while getting someone else to  clean and do laundry – two things she is not good at and doesn’t like to  do.  When her small operation got too big for her to handle and started  taking away time from her family — the reason she resigned from Corporate  America in the first place — she put an ad out on Craig’s List for help.

It read:

“Mom working from home needs help! If you left work to stay  at home with your kids and want to do some part-time work in your field email  me. I have computer work, writing work, database work…all sorts of stuff you  can do from home for 1 hour a week or 10.  Email Sandra Beck and let’s  chat.

Eighty one mothers emailed the first day. Eighty one! These  women had law degrees, management experience, medical billing experience,  licenses in  lots of stuff that are really valuable. One mom was a former  court reporter and typed 150 words a minute. The owner can’t even read 150  words a minute much less type that fast.  These women had skills that  could be used to do so many projects. This was a goldmine!

Pretty soon it was clear.  There were tons of mothers out  there looking for ways to supplement their family income and provide both  necessities and extras for their family through part time work that required  only a computer and an internet connection.  Women have contacted  Motherhood Incorporated with extraordinary circumstances.

  • Some       left the workforce by choice.
  • Some       left the workforce because of an illness of a child or parent.
  • Some       left the workforce because of spouse transfers.
  • Some       left the workforce because of disability.

All of these women had something in common. They wanted to  work.  To earn money…to keep active…to keep their skills sharp, but  for whatever reason could not commute or commit to a full time job.

Motherhood Incorporated is dedicated to bringing these skilled  women back into the workforce in a manner that suits not only the needs of the  client, but the needs of the working mother.  And everybody wins!
