By Sandra Beck

How cute is this?

I have to tell you I buy a lot of things. A lot of girly things between makeup, jewelry clothes and stuff. Today in the mail I got a birthday gift that came from the company Lifetherapy.com. Now you know from time to time I am known to wax poetic over a shoe or a handbag or lip liner! Today it’s all about the Positivity in Color Bracelet.

First of all I took pictures of the packaging because it was almost too nice to open. I love also that the bracelet comes in this cute little box where I can store it and find it without it opening and dislodging the contents…yes it fell off my desk! Beyond the cute little bow and the cool hang tag with the product information, the bracelet itself rocked my world.

Ohhhh its yummy!

A bracelet? Yes, but I am going to go out on a limb and say this is more than just a bracelet. Because it’s a wrap, and because I am the McGuyver of Motherhood I immediately found a few more uses for this “bracelet.”

What's Not to Love!

Like I toddler I immediately wrapped it around my neck. Instant cool jamming necklace! Then I wrapped it around my ankle. I was so excited because I wear a lot of black and turquoise would really pop and look good against my pale almost never tan leg when I wear my bathing suit and sarong. Its way to cute to swim in, but pool side party I am there. And just because I am me, I realized I could add two little hooks and give one to my girlfriend who wears this awful eyeglass holder one that is so not cool, so not Zen and so not…well its just not. And you know who you are…and when you read this think of your five seconds of fame in a blog post – and lose the dorky chain mama!

Either way I was overjoyed from beginning to end with this “bracelet” slash body ornament…and I even wrapped it in my hair with a braid and around a pony tail…I love the Positivity in Color Bracelet. I need one in every color too.

And, no I wasn’t paid to write this!

Motherhood Talk Radio bring you everything from the latest crafting tips to how to be sexy in your 40s to great parenting tips to moms living with cancer and most importantly how to Bounce Back with Style.

Today we welcome Linda Franklin of The Real Cougar Woman and Shining Service Worldwide.

I was born inToronto,Canadaand moved toNew York Cityin my early twenties. Never having finished college, I worked as a secretary because that’s all I thought I was qualified to do.

Wall Street in the late 70’s was not a woman friendly environment but I used that to my advantage. At age 28 I walked into my boss’s office and asked to work in the firm’s trading department. He said yes, but it came with a very big caveat. He said, “make it or be fired”. That challenge made me determined to succeed and I did. I was the first Canadian woman to own a seat on The New York Stock Exchange and then went on to manage this leading investment firm’s all male trading department.

Then at 48 my life changed drastically. Due to a number of circumstances I decided to leave Wall Street. That transition was a devastating blow to my psyche. I didn’t realize how much of my identity I had attached to my work. Retirement had never been a thought in my mind and I had no idea of how to cope with not having a good reason to get up in the morning.

When I could no longer stand wallowing in self pity, I made the conscious decision to take back my power and my life. Over the next two years, I went on a quest to find the answers that would help me with my relationships, maintaining a healthy body, looking fabulous, starting a new career and filling my spiritual reservoir. That journey, as tough as it was, turned out to be a blessing. It re-ignited my passion and allowed me to get excited about act two of my life.

Wanting to share what I had learned I started a blog. People ask me all the time why I decided to call it the The Real Cougar Woman.

It wasn’t planned – it just happened after I started to read a slew of unflattering articles about women over 40. They were being called “cougars”, and portrayed as predators on the prowl for young men. This negative spin upset me and I wanted to focus on the many virtues of real women not the media’s idea of women over 40. So I coined the term Real Cougar as my way of celebrating our age, our accomplishments, our independence, and our passion for life. I make it clear that a Real Cougar refuses to be defined by the age of the man she chooses to be with. Today, three years later I am still doing everything I can to make “cougar” a designer label that women all over the world are proud to wear.

My best selling book Don’t Ever Call Me Ma’am! – The Real Cougar Guidebook for Life After 40 is helping me to expand my message. It has important information that every woman needs to read. I have also included inspiring stories from other fabulous females that truly warmed my heart. It let me know we are all together on this journey through time.

My newest initiative is “Shining Service Worldwide™”. This is my outreach to support women in the military. Like most worthwhile ventures it wasn’t planned. After receiving emails from military women who felt empowered after reading my blog – the path seemed obvious.

Sandra Beck is the president of Motherhood Incorporated. As an Author, Coach, Speaker, Radio Host, Entrepreneur and Philanthropist, Sandra Beck is as successful as she is busy. The single mother of two young boys has created a virtual empire of successful companies entirely staffed, managed and implemented using a host of virtual assistants and on-line resources. She is also the author of a wildly successful blog (www.motherhoodvoice.com.) Author of Motherhood Incorporated, The Smart Woman’s Guide to Working From Home with Just a Computer and an Internet Connection and Blogphoria – How To Reach Millions of People without Spending a Dime, Sandra Beck is a powerful voice in the Social Media Arena as a popular Internet Brand Strategist.

Big Table Farm is the collaborative effort of Brian Marcy and Clare Carver.
We are a winemaker and an artist, we grow and produce what we love to eat and drink.

The farm and winery is named after their desire to provide a gracious and welcoming table for themselves and friends, with a cornucopia of hand-crafted food and wine. Ambitious as it is, they have launched a winery and are establishing a working farm, where they raise pasture poultry, pigs, cows, and egg-laying chickens. Brian and Clare also keep a large garden, working towards a managed intensive grazing system of farming that builds the soil, sequesters carbon, and moves towards a healthy, sustainable and diverse farm.

In addition to partnering with Brian to market the wine and manage their 70 acres, Clare is also a painter and wine label designer. Clare’s fine art is represented in Galleries in San Francisco and Sonoma and now in Carlton OR. Clare has designed wine labels for over 50 wineries from Oregon, California and Washington. Her labels have recieved multiple awards including america’s top ten wine labels (S.F. Chronicle, ’06) her winery clients inculde (just to name a few) Beaux Freres, Delicato Family Vineyards, Grace Family Vineyards, Miner Family Vineyards, Patton Valley Vineyards, Resonance Vineyards, Love and Squalor Winery and Phelps Creek Vineyards.

Motherhood Talk Radio hosted by Sandra Beck, Christy Holly, and Rick Swanson present Carrie Benuska of Teles Properties Pasadena.

Carrie Benuska is a wife, a mother of three young adults, and a successful Residential Realtor with Teles Properties in Pasadena, California. After graduating from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, with a BS in Industrial Engineering in 1987, Carrie married her college sweetheart, Kal, and worked for a short time as a systems consultant for a large international firm.

Although life in the business world was exciting, she soon took on the role of full-time mom when her first daughter was born in 1991. During the early years of motherhood, Carrie juggled her home responsibilities with a part-time bookkeeping business. Once her kids reached their elementary school years, Carrie plunged herself into volunteering in the classroom and for the PTA in her hometown of San Marino. When her youngest daughter was in junior high, Carrie launched her business in residential real estate. Carrie has truly found her calling as a Realtor yet loves having the ability to work around the needs of her family. Carrie has a daughter who is a
Junior at the University of Southern California, a son who is a Freshman at Texas Christian University, and a daughter who is a Junior in high school.

Carrie loves photography, renovating old architectural homes, and blogging. Learn more about Carrie at www.carriebenuska.com

WHAT IS ECOHASHI? It’s a fun and fashionable cloth napkin wrapped around reusable bamboo chopsticks. When it’s time to eat, reach for your ecohashi instead of disposable chopsticks or plastic utensils. After using, toss ecohashi in the washing machine and the chopsticks in the sink.

WHY ECOHASHI? Every year, 63 billion disposable chopsticks are manufactured, using 25 million trees. Most of them ultimately end up in landfills, generating tons of waste. ecohashi was inspired by the growing movement launched by Greenpeace China to BYOC (bring your own chopsticks). Our mission is to provide small ways to make a big impact.

ECOHASHI is a proud supporter of the Hawaii Foodbank. This holiday season, for every ecohashi purchased at Red Pineapple in Ward Center or online at www.ecohashi.net, we will donate $1 to the Hawaii Foodbank. Over 55,000 children in Hawaii are food insecure. $1 will provide two meals for them.
